MRA's
Academic Program

As a public school program, MRA places a high value on academic education. Students of all skill levels participate in daily classes covering all basic disciplines. Classes are taught by special education teachers who have had extensive experience working with seriously emotionally disturbed adolescents.
The primary goal of the academic program is to provide a useful education designed to fit the needs of the individual student. Considering the wide range of abilities and skills students bring to our school, we have designed classes to accommodate students whose last educational experience may be this program as well as classes for those who will benefit from post high school training.

The academic programs are designed to reflect, as much as possible, those at the middle schools and high school in Manchester. Students take a core of courses including English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Students needing specific courses for graduation, such as U.S. History or Biology, are able to meet those requirements at Manchester Regional Academy.

Students who successfully complete courses at the secondary level while enrolled at Manchester Regional Academy accrue credits as they would at Manchester High School or their hometown high school. All courses lead to a diploma from the student’s high school.

In addition to academic classes and vocational classes, all students participate in physical education. Students also may choose to participate in art or music. A college transition program is available for those who qualify. Students may also take credit or non-credit courses at the Manchester Community College campus, which is adjacent to the Academy.
